What next? Your friends are all at work, your baby is still only a month or so old and now the phone isn’t ringing anymore. This is the time to look at who else is out there in the world. If you’re a techie type person, you have found this blog because you were bored!

Next week you’ll read a headline that says..”Make Money from Home! Earn Millions”…. STOP! The urge to click on this is going to be strong, but focus on your home, your baby and the reality of this type of headline…

The truth is it takes time to make money online. A stay at home mom with a new baby needs to only do what needs to be done for the time being. DO NOT go out and buy the get rich quick programs…

You WILL blow your budget and get to a point where you WILL need to go to work sooner! Now that I’ve uncovered your inner desire to actually do something more than feed, burp and clean your baby, take the time to really learn what your passions are. Get to know other moms in the area to see what they are doing, Take mommy and me classes.

By spending your time focused on your family you will actually be gaining better skills that in the long run will work for you when you are ready to start a real business. You will learn to hold conversations with strangers, schedule play dates, manage money and learn the fine are of negotiations!

Trust me those professional skills you used at the office will really take you far in the “Stay at Home” world!

Take a bath, breath slowly and be happy.  Tomorrow take the tips you learn and set up a system that works for you, so that when the baby comes you will be able to cope with all the little things that happen when babies come into this world!  Don’t hesitate to tell all your friends when the baby arrives that you want to be alone.

If you are the type to want to socialize constantly you will find it helpful to have a designated person to tell you when to sleep…

I’m not kidding, after my first I had so much energy I had to have my mom make me go to bed… I couldn’t stop talking to everyone I was so excited.

Also, take your cues from Baby, sleep, eat, poop and sleep again.  This will eventually end, so enjoy the nap time.  Oh and enjoy all the movies you want!  If nursing, set a schedule. Otherwise, your precious one will want to stay on 24/7.  NOT a pretty sight!

I was thinking back to when I first stayed home full time.
I was pregnant with my third child.  It cost me more to work than to stay home. Back then there was no opportunity to actually make money at home unless I sold Mary Kay. Avon or Tupperware… Ok so I love Longaberger now! So I do sell that!  Anyway, back to my story.  I was scared!  Not of having a baby- once you have one the rest are easy!  (Don’t tell your mom!)  anyway, I jwas scared of the loss of working.  This really comes from my inner fears! What if I forgot how to work with others?  What if my husband lost his job? What if we lost our health insurance?  What if I never could get a new job? Ok, so you think I’m just saying all this to keep you from staying at home with the kids…. No.  I’m saying this to let you know that I’ve been there.  I’ve faced the ups and downs to being a stay at home mom who tries to be perfect!. Remember that you are the greatest asset your family has!  So plan ahead.  Keep yourself focused and the rest will fall in line.You will know when you’re doing the right thing for your family or not.  Trust yourself and your instincts!  Eventually after your baby arrives and you create a routine, you will be able to focus some energy on creating an income online.
